Not sure which service you need?

We Test First. Then We Design the Right System.

The fix for bad water isn’t a pitcher filter from the store. It’s a properly designed system that treats the water at the source, before it reaches a single faucet in your home. But the right system depends entirely on what’s in your water, and that’s different for every home.

According to the EPA, around 15 percent of the U.S. population relies on private wells for drinking water, and roughly one in five private wells contains at least one contaminant at levels exceeding health benchmarks. Private wells are not regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act, which means homeowners are solely responsible for testing and treatment. That’s a significant concern across northern Harford County, rural Baltimore County, and parts of Anne Arundel County where well water systems are common.

City water has its own issues. Municipal water across the Baltimore metro is treated at the source, but chlorine taste, hard water mineral buildup, and lead from aging service lines are common concerns at the tap. The EPA confirms that homes built before 1986 are more likely to have lead pipes, fixtures, and solder, and there is no safe level of lead in drinking water.

Bailey Bros. Plumbing & Drain Services handles water quality for both well water and city water homes. We test your water, identify what’s in it, and design a system that targets the specific problems we find. Save $500 on a new water filtration system this spring. Financing is available through Wisetack.

Why Choose Bailey Bros.

Our Water Quality Services

Iron in your well water staining everything orange. Hard water leaving white scale on every fixture. Chlorine taste that makes city water unpleasant to drink. Concerns about lead in an older home. We install whole house water filters, water softeners, iron filters, carbon filters, reverse osmosis systems, and sediment filters designed to target the specific contaminants your water testing reveals. One system protects the entire house. Save $500 off a new system this spring.

When the well pump stops working, you have no water. No showers, no toilets, no faucets. Unlike city water, there’s no utility company to call. We handle well pump repair, well pump replacement, and well pump installation, including submersible pumps, jet pumps, pressure tanks, and pressure switches. We respond 24/7 when your well stops producing water.

Backflow occurs when contaminated water reverses flow and enters your clean water supply. Maryland requires backflow prevention devices on certain properties, and annual testing is mandatory for commercial and irrigation systems. We install, repair, test, and certify backflow prevention assemblies for residential and commercial properties.

What's Wrong With Your Water?

Find your symptoms below. We’ll point you to the likely cause and the right solution.

Water Tastes Metallic

Likely cause: iron, manganese, or copper in well water, or corroded pipes in older homes. Solution: iron filter or whole house water filtration system. If pipes are the source, repiping may also be needed.

Water Smells Like Rotten Eggs

Likely cause: hydrogen sulfide gas, very common in well water. Can also come from a failing anode rod in the water heater. Solution: filtration system with sulfur removal. If the smell is only from hot water, the water heater may be the source.

Brown or Orange Water From the Tap

Likely cause: iron in well water or corroded galvanized pipes. Solution: iron filter for well water. If both hot and cold water are discolored, repiping may be the better solution.

White Residue on Faucets and Showerheads

Likely cause: hard water mineral deposits from calcium and magnesium. Solution: water softener installation. Common in both well water and city water homes across Central Maryland.

Low Water Pressure From the Well

Possible causes: failing well pump, waterlogged pressure tank, clogged pressure switch, or a dropping water table. If only one fixture has low pressure, the problem may be localized. If the whole house is affected, think well pump.

Well Pump Running Constantly or Cycling Rapidly

Possible causes: leak in the pressure tank bladder, failed pressure switch, or a water line leak between the well and the house. A well pump that won't stop running burns out the motor and drives up your electric bill.

Why Bailey Bros. for Water Quality

We Test Before We Recommend

We don’t sell you a system based on a guess. We test your water, identify the specific contaminants present, and design a filtration or softening solution that targets what we find. The right system for a well in Fallston is different from the right system for city water in Towson. Testing tells us which one your home needs.

Well Water and City Water Expertise

Many plumbers work on one or the other. We handle both. Well water often brings iron, sulfur, and bacteria. City water often brings chlorine taste, hard water buildup, and lead concerns from aging pipes. Whether your home is on a private well in northern Harford County or municipal water in Annapolis, we design the right system.

A Plumber Who Handles the Whole System

Water quality problems are often connected to plumbing problems. Brown water might mean you need a filter and a repipe. A failing well pump might need a new pressure tank and a water line repair. Because we’re a full-service plumbing company, we fix everything in one scope instead of referring you to someone else.

$500 Off This Spring

We’re offering $500 off a new water filtration system this spring. Financing through Wisetack lets you invest in clean water now and pay over time.

Backflow Testing and Certification

Water Quality Questions

What's the difference between a water filter and a water softener?

A filter removes contaminants like chlorine, iron, lead, sediment, and bacteria. A softener removes hard water minerals like calcium and magnesium. They solve different problems, and many homes need both. We test your water and recommend the right combination.

Cost depends on the type of system, the contaminants being addressed, and your home’s plumbing setup. We provide upfront pricing after water testing. Save $500 off a new system this spring. Financing is available through Wisetack.

It depends on what’s in your water. Iron and sulfur require specific media filters. Bacteria require UV treatment or chlorine injection. Sediment requires a pre-filter. We test first, then design a system that targets the specific issues we find.

Common signs include low water pressure throughout the house, no water at all, the pump running constantly or cycling on and off rapidly, unusual noises from the pressure tank, and spitting or sputtering at faucets. Call us before the pump fails completely.

Yes. We test for common contaminants including iron, hardness, pH, sulfur, bacteria, and more. Testing tells us exactly what’s in your water so we recommend the right system, not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Both. City water often has chlorine taste, hard water buildup, and concerns about lead from older service lines. Well water often has iron, sulfur, sediment, and bacteria. We install systems for both, tailored to the specific water source.

We serve Harford County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, and Howard County. Well pump services are especially common in northern Harford County and rural Baltimore County. City water filtration is common throughout the Baltimore metro.

Yes. We offer financing through Wisetack with flexible terms for all credit levels. A clean water system is an investment in your home, and monthly payment plans make it accessible.
