Sewer Camera Inspection & Line Location in Central Maryland

See the Problem Before You Pay to Fix It

Before we recommend any major sewer or drain repair, we show you what’s wrong. A sewer camera inspection gives you a real-time video look inside your pipes so you can make decisions based on what we actually see, not what we guess. Bailey Bros. provides camera inspections and underground line location for homes and businesses across Harford County, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Howard County, and Baltimore City.

Not sure which service you need?

The Smartest Money You'll Spend on Your Sewer Line

A sewer camera inspection costs a fraction of a sewer repair, and it can save you thousands. It confirms whether the line actually needs repair, shows exactly where the problem is, and reveals whether a targeted fix will work or whether the whole line needs replacement. Without a camera, you’re relying on guesswork, and guesswork leads to either paying for work you don’t need or missing problems that get worse.

According to U.S. Census data, Baltimore City’s median home construction year is 1948 and Baltimore County’s is 1973. Many homes across Central Maryland still have original clay, cast iron, or Orangeburg sewer lines in the ground. These materials deteriorate over decades, and the only way to know the condition of the pipe without digging it up is to look inside it with a camera.

Bailey Bros. Plumbing & Drain Services provides sewer camera inspections, video pipe inspections, and underground line location for residential and commercial properties. We also offer a snake and camera package for a $500 flat rate: we clear the line and inspect it in one visit. Every job is backed by a 1-year labor warranty.

When You Needa Sewer Camera Inspection

Recurring Drain Backups

If your drains keep backing up despite repeated drain cleaning, the line has a structural problem that a snake can't fix. A camera inspection shows whether tree roots, a collapsed section, a bellied pipe, or pipe deterioration is causing the blockage to return.

You're Buying a Home and Want to Check the Sewer Line

A pre-purchase sewer inspection is one of the smartest things a homebuyer can do. A failed sewer line can cost thousands to replace, and it won't show up on a standard home inspection. A sewer scope before buying a house shows the condition of the line and gives you leverage in negotiations if problems exist.

A Plumber Recommended Sewer Repair and You Want a Second Look

If another plumber told you the sewer line needs to be replaced but didn't run a camera to prove it, get a second opinion. We camera the line, show you the footage, and give you an honest assessment of whether repair, replacement, or neither is needed.

You Need to Locate an Underground Line

Planning an excavation, installing a fence, adding a patio, or building an addition? You need to know where your sewer, water, and gas lines are buried before you dig. We locate underground pipes using camera and electronic locating equipment to prevent accidental damage.

Sewer Smell in the Yard or the House

A persistent sewer odor outside or inside the home can mean a cracked pipe, a separated joint, or a venting issue. A camera inspection shows whether the pipe is compromised and exactly where the problem is.

Slow Drains That Don't Respond to Cleaning

If professional drain cleaning only provides temporary relief, the pipe may be bellied, partially collapsed, or so deteriorated that buildup reforms immediately. A camera inspection reveals the structural cause behind the chronic slow drain.

Camera & Line Location Services

Sewer Camera Inspection

We insert a high-resolution waterproof camera into the sewer line and feed it through the pipe from the house to the municipal connection. You see the footage on a monitor in real time. We record everything and walk you through what we find: cracks, root intrusion, joint offsets, bellied sections, buildup, and the overall condition of the pipe.

Pre-Purchase Sewer Scope

Buying a home? We inspect the sewer line before you close and provide a written report documenting the pipe material, condition, and any issues found. If the line has problems, the report gives you the information you need to negotiate repairs or adjust your offer.

Underground Line Location

We locate and mark the path of underground sewer lines, water lines, and gas lines using camera-mounted transmitters and electronic pipe locating equipment. Essential before any excavation, construction, or landscaping project that involves digging near utility infrastructure.

Snake & Camera Package: $500 Flat Rate

We clear the drain line with a professional snake and then run the camera to show you the condition of the pipe. One visit, one flat rate, and you see the problem on screen before we recommend anything further. Our most popular drain service. See all coupons and specials.

Why a Camera Inspection Is Worth It

You See What We See

We don’t describe the problem and ask you to trust us. We show you the footage on a monitor and walk you through it. You see the cracks, the roots, the buildup, and the condition of the pipe with your own eyes. Informed decisions start with visible evidence.

Prevents Unnecessary Repairs

Some plumbers recommend sewer replacement without ever looking inside the pipe. A camera inspection confirms whether the line actually needs repair, where the problem is, and how extensive it is. It can save you thousands by ruling out work you don’t need.

Protects Your Home Purchase

A standard home inspection doesn’t cover the sewer line. A failed sewer can cost $5,000 to $15,000 or more to replace. A pre-purchase sewer scope catches the problem before you close and gives you the information to negotiate.

Prevents Dig-Related Damage

Accidentally hitting a sewer, water, or gas line during excavation creates an expensive emergency. Underground line location before you dig prevents accidental damage and the costs that come with it.

Pairs With Every Drain Service We Offer

We run a camera after every main line clearing to confirm the blockage is gone and check for structural issues. We check every sewer repair to confirm the diagnosis. The camera is a tool that makes every other drain service more accurate.

What to Expect From a Camera Inspection

When you schedule a sewer camera inspection, we arrive with a self-leveling, high-resolution camera head attached to a flexible push rod. We access the sewer line through the main cleanout, which is typically located in the basement, crawl space, or outside the home near the foundation.

We feed the camera through the entire length of the sewer line, from the house to the municipal connection. You see the footage in real time on a monitor. We narrate what we’re seeing as we go: pipe material, joint condition, root intrusion, buildup, cracks, offsets, bellied sections, and any other issues. We record the entire inspection.

For underground line location, we use a transmitter built into the camera head that sends a signal to a handheld receiver above ground. This lets us mark the exact path and depth of the pipe on the surface. We also locate water and gas lines using electronic locating equipment when needed.

After the inspection, we provide a summary of what we found and our recommendation. If the line is in good condition, we tell you that. If it needs cleaning, repair, or replacement, we explain the options with upfront pricing. For real estate inspections, we provide a written report suitable for your lender, agent, or negotiation.

Camera Inspection Questions

How much does a sewer camera inspection cost in Maryland?

Cost depends on the length of the line and the scope of the inspection. Our snake and camera package is a $500 flat rate, which includes clearing the line and inspecting it in one visit. Standalone inspections are also available.

The camera shows the pipe material, joint condition, cracks, root intrusion, grease and debris buildup, bellied sections, collapsed areas, and the overall structural condition of the line. You see the footage in real time and we explain what we find.

Strongly recommended. A standard home inspection doesn’t cover the sewer line. A pre-purchase sewer scope reveals problems that could cost thousands to fix after closing. The inspection gives you leverage to negotiate repairs or adjust your offer.

A waterproof camera on a flexible push rod is fed through the sewer line from the cleanout. The camera sends live video to a monitor so we can see the interior of the pipe in real time. A built-in transmitter allows us to mark the pipe’s location and depth from above ground.

Yes. We use camera-mounted transmitters and electronic pipe locating equipment to mark the path and depth of underground lines. Essential before any excavation or construction project.

Rental cameras are consumer-grade and lack the resolution, self-leveling capability, and transmitter needed for accurate diagnosis and location. More importantly, interpreting what the camera shows requires experience. A professional inspection gives you accurate results and an honest assessment from a licensed plumber who knows what to look for.
