Not Every Plumber Should Be Working on Gas Lines

In Maryland, a Master Gas Fitter license is a separate credential from a plumbing license. It requires specific training and examination focused on gas piping systems. Not every plumber holds this credential, and not every plumber should be touching gas lines. Maryland law requires that only licensed master plumbers or licensed gas fitters perform gas line work.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, on average more than 200 people in the United States die every year from carbon monoxide produced by malfunctioning fuel-burning appliances, including gas furnaces, ranges, and water heaters. Proper gas line installation, venting, and regular inspection prevent these tragedies.

Our Master Gas Fitter brings 28 years of field experience to every gas line job. That means accurate gas line sizing, proper material selection, code-compliant connections, and a pressure test on every job. We serve homes and businesses across all five counties. Financing is available through Wisetack for larger gas line projects.

When to Call for Gas Line Service

I Smell Gas in My House

Leave the house immediately. Do not flip light switches or light anything. Call us from outside at (443) 787-5995. A gas smell in the house is always treated as an emergency. We respond 24/7 for gas leak detection and gas leak repair.

My Carbon Monoxide Detector Went Off

Open windows, leave the house, and call us. Carbon monoxide from a gas leak or malfunctioning gas appliance is a serious health hazard. We inspect gas lines, venting, and appliance connections to find and fix the source.

I Need a Gas Line for a New Appliance

Adding a gas stove, gas dryer, tankless water heater, whole-house generator, outdoor grill, or fire pit? Each one needs a properly sized gas line run from your existing supply. We handle the installation, pressure test, and inspection.

I'm Switching to a Tankless Water Heater

Tankless units often require a higher BTU gas supply than traditional tank heaters. The existing gas line may need to be upsized, and a gas meter upgrade may be necessary. We handle the gas line work as part of the tankless conversion.

My Gas Appliance Isn't Working Right

Yellow or flickering pilot flames, soot buildup around a burner, a gas smell near an appliance, or an appliance that won't stay lit. These can indicate a gas supply issue, a venting problem, or a failing connection. We diagnose and repair gas line issues at the appliance level.

I Need a Gas Line Inspection for a Home Purchase

Buying a home with gas appliances? A gas line pressure test and inspection confirms the system is sound, the connections are safe, and the venting meets code. We provide documentation for real estate transactions.

Why a Master Gas Fitter Matters

A Credential Most Plumbers Don't Have

A Master Gas Fitter license is a separate exam and credential from a standard plumbing license. It means our team has been specifically trained and tested on gas piping systems, natural gas, and propane. You’re not hiring someone who dabbles in gas work. You’re hiring someone who specializes in it.

Pressure Tested on Every Job

Every gas line we install or repair gets a pressure test before it goes back into service. Period. This confirms the system is sealed, the connections are tight, and there are no leaks anywhere in the line.

Code Compliance Under COMAR

Maryland’s plumbing code adopts the International Fuel Gas Code under COMAR. All our gas work meets those standards. Proper material selection, proper sizing, proper connections, and proper venting on every job.

Water and Gas Under One Scope

Tankless water heater conversions need both a gas line upgrade and a water heater installation. New construction needs gas, water, and drain rough-in. Because we hold both a Master Plumber and a Master Gas Fitter license, we handle both scopes without needing a second contractor.

24/7 Emergency Gas Leak Response

Gas leaks don’t wait for business hours. We respond around the clock across all five counties. Call (443) 787-5995 and we’ll get a Master Gas Fitter to your property.

What to Expect From a Gas Line Service Call

When you call for gas line work, we start by understanding the scope. For a gas leak emergency, we respond immediately. For a new installation, we schedule a site visit to assess the routing, sizing, and any modifications needed.

For new gas line installations, we review the appliance requirements, measure the run, size the line for the BTU demand, and determine whether a gas meter upgrade is needed. We coordinate with your gas utility provider if necessary. Once the line is run and connected, we pressure test the entire system and schedule the inspection with the local authority having jurisdiction.

For repairs, we locate the problem, make the fix, and pressure test before putting the line back in service. For inspections, we test the system, verify all connections and venting, and provide a written report. Every gas line job we perform is done to Maryland gas piping code and backed by a 1-year labor warranty.
