Maryland’s water hardness averages 118 parts per million statewide, which the U.S. Geological Survey classifies as hard. In the Baltimore metro area, hardness levels reach 185 PPM or higher, well into the very hard range. Hard water carries excess calcium and magnesium that build up inside pipes, water heaters, and appliances over time, reducing efficiency and shortening equipment life.

Water Quality Testing

System Design and Sizing
A system that’s too small won’t keep up with your household’s water demand. A system that’s too large wastes salt, water, or filter media. We size every installation to your home’s water usage, the number of bathrooms, and the specific contaminants in your supply.
Professional Installation
We install the system at your main water supply line (for whole house systems) or at the point of use (for reverse osmosis). Is a water softener worth it?
If your water hardness is above 120 PPM, yes. Hard water causes scale buildup that damages pipes, water heaters, and appliances. A softener pays for itself in reduced maintenance, longer appliance life, and less money spent on soap and cleaning products.
Do you service well water systems?
Yes. Private wells are common throughout Harford County and parts of Baltimore County. We test well water for hardness, iron, manganese, sulfur, bacteria, and pH, then design a treatment system that addresses everything your water test reveals.
How often do filters need to be replaced?
It depends on the system and your water quality. Most whole house sediment and carbon filters last 6 to 12 months. Reverse osmosis membranes last 2 to 3 years. Water softener resin lasts 10 to 15 years with proper maintenance. We set up a maintenance schedule during installation.

A reverse osmosis system provides a higher level of purification at a single tap (usually the kitchen) and removes dissolved solids, lead, and other contaminants that standard filters don’t catch. Will a water softener make my water taste salty?
No. A water softener exchanges calcium and magnesium ions for sodium ions, but the amount of sodium added is minimal and not detectable by taste for most people. If sodium is a concern, we can install a potassium-based softener as an alternative.
